Hi,
I bought the board along with A4988 driver to make a simple XY plotter.
setup
Raspberry Pi - model: 3B
Protoneer board: 2.6
Pi CNC HAT Version 4.10 from here https://wiki.protoneer.co.nz/Raspberry_ ... Card_Image
Nema 17 Motor
Power Supply: ATX supply with 12v output
Setup the driver with the vref based on the instruction.
Status:
- pi boots up and I'm able to load the bCNC and after updating to /dev/ttyAMA0 it still doesn't connect. the app freezes the moment I click connect.
- I've tried rebooting and trying minicom and there as well I'm not able to connect to /dev/ttyAMA0 also. Same story with CNC.js.
I'm helping a 7th grader to set this up for their STEM program. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Re: No connection
Have you run the RPI 3 setup script that is on the desktop?
Re: No connection
By setup, you mean setup minicom? If so that I did that.
I followed the guide here https://wiki.protoneer.co.nz/Raspberry_ ... tart_Guide
Please tell me more about the setup script.

RPI 3's is sharing the the Bluetooth port and hardware Serial pins. By default bluetooth is enabled. The above swaps them out.To setup a RPi 3's, run the "RPi3 Serial Config" shortcut on the desktop it will configure the hardware serial port and is only needed for on a RPi 3's. It only needs to be run once and will automatically reboot the Pi.
Re: No connection
Are you saying the onboard bluetooth has to be disabled? If this is true I wish that was posted in a MANUAL or on the manual wiki because if it is true. Then this project i have been building up towards, and am just starting to work on getting the electronics and software side going. Will have been a total waste of my time and money and I'll will FULLY and TRULY wish I had never purchased it. I need to use the bluetooth being that its part of my BT wireless control system for lockout tag out. does bluetooth have to be disabled yes/no?

Re: No connection
Well imagine my surprise when I tried my board on the first RPi3. For some reason they have shared the BT and hardware Serial ports on the same pins.berin wrote: ↑Sat Feb 16, 2019 2:01 amAre you saying the onboard bluetooth has to be disabled? So you have a few options... New CNC system or a USB BT dongle.
We don't don't control 3rd party hardware like RPi's or firmware like GRBL or software like bCNC. We only provide a budget hobby level Hardware solution that connects all of the above. We ensure that stock is always available and try as a one man business to support the forum where I can.
