Bypassing onboard stepper drivers

Post by Powair7s » Wed Feb 21, 2018 7:21 pm

Got my CNC shield in the mail yesterday. I am going to be using external stepper motor drivers. Can I omit soldering the components on the board for the onboard stepper motors...resistors, pins etc?

Thanks in advance!

Yes you can...

The pinout for the sockets are as follow:

All that is needed for external drivers are GND, Enable , Step and Direction.

Sorry I am a little confused. If I am using external stepper drivers, I still have to connect wires where the onboard stepper drivers go? I thought I just had to attach to the pins on the one side and could ignore all the onboard stepper driver locations. Does that make sense?
