Have you got 5v connected to the PI. cant tell from the pics.

I think the 5 volts is the enable pin, or white wire. I'm not sure if that's 100% correct or not. And while it is moving now, it does move in a random direction. When i tell it to move right 1 inch, sometimes it moves right and sometimes it moves left. That'll be tomorrow's project to figure that out!

I'll try to get a wiring diagram together, but the good news is, my random direction was due to some loose wires. At this point, I'm happy to report that my x-axis is moving reliably!!! This is going to be awesome!!
