jffry7, since you seem to know more about these than anybody else here, can you tell me if the TMC2130 drivers will work as they come without having to reconfigure them for special functions and features?
I have read that they have a legacy mode which is default and are supposed to work out of the box but I would like to confirm this before purchasing them.

I've used 2130 in a 3D printer as a drop in replacement for A4988. You get the silent (stealth?) mode but not sensorless homing which requires SPI.
Currently running 2209 as I'm wiating for a new controller board that better suits the 2130.

Perfect! That is exactly what I needed to know.
I have end switches so I don't really care about sensorless homing on this particular project.
After looking into the TMC2209 I think that is what I am going to use for this project too, thanks for the info!

I noticed a post of yours for a couple of mnths ago regarding the latst Raspian and laserweb4.
I've managed to get laserweb4 working with Raspan Buster (latest) with the PI CNC board (actually a CNC Sheild/UNO butlogically the same thing). all I haven't done or tested is loading grbl to the 328. Pi died :-(

If you want details/installation scripts, let me know.
I've mentioned this to Bertus but not had a reply as yet - Christmas and New Year come first!

Yes, Geoff managed to get Laserweb going and I will add it to the next image that has been a long time due.

If I have read this correct, I can use the tmc2208 drivers with this board? They are drop in replacements of the A4988.

Yes, they are a drop in replacement. You do lose some of the features that are available with this drivers via UART though.
