MPCNC Help

Post by socrates » Tue Jan 22, 2019 3:32 pm

I am building out my first CNC and wanted to build it with a raspberryPi so my logical solution would be using the Protoneer hat and DRV8825 drivers. That being said I decided my hat after prining out the MPCNC parts and am now ready to start my electrical. I have wired up the hat but the design calls for 2 stepper motors per x and y axis. The z axis uses only 1 stepper motor. I am using nema 17 steppers with the following specs : Current Per Phase: 1.5A/Holding Torque: 5.5Kg.cm (76 oz-in)/Rated Voltage: 4.2V.

Given that I am trying to wire 2 steppers to one DRV8825 is there a special way I should wire them up or power requirements. Or is this simply not possible?

Thanks

This is possible.
There are instructions on www.v1engineering.com forums

You will want to wire the 2 stepper motors for the X-axis in series with each other and wire the 2 steppers for the Y-axis in series with each other.
