have you tried:

Code: Select all

wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/winder/builds/master/UniversalGCodeSender/UniversalGcodeSender-v1.0.9.zip -O ugs.zip
Otherwise just download https://raw.githubusercontent.com/winde ... v1.0.9.zip

onto a USB drive copy it into the created folder and do the rest of the other steps.

(The next Image will include UGS making things much easier... ;) )

OK Bertus , that one did the trick, thank you for the trouble you have taken, much appreciated.

I did it a little different.

# Make a new folder.
down load UGS
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/winde ... v1.0.9.zip
Right click on the zip file and extract here.
open a terminal

CODE: SELECT ALL
sudo apt-get update

# install java
sudo apt-get install openjdk-7-jre -y
sudo apt-get install librxtx-java -y

chmod +x start.sh.

Double click the Start.sh file to bring up UGS.

One thing I found the Visulizer does not work.

All the motors etc are running smoothly, cant do anything else until I set up the laser driver, sometime after Xmas, then I will hopefully not have any further problems, fingers crossed, and don't hold your breath :D
A Merry Xmas to you and yours. Ernie

This not a problem just a query. :D
I have been playing around a bit (yes Dangerous) Have managed to be able to control the PI via PC, works good.
But that is not what I am trying to do, I prepare all my files on the PC with Inscape, what I am trying to do is transfer the gcode over to the Pi.
Do you know anyway of doing this. Ernie

If the Pi has Internet access then I would suggest using github. It seems to be the most popular way of transferring files to/from computers on a chip.

This depends on which operating system you use on your PC. If it's Linux based then the solution is Secure Shell (SSH). This link provides an excellent tutorial on setting up and using SSH....https://teamprincipia.wordpress.com/200 ... on-ubuntu/. A very simple way to move files around your network.

If however, your PC runs a version of Windows then I would suggest that either Putty or Samba Shares would be the answer. I don't have any tutorials for that approach as I don't use windows at all sorry but I'm sure that google will help. The RPi has OpenSSH server and client already installed and active so you only need to deal with the Windows side of the equation.

Hope this points you in the right direction. Post again if you have further questions.

Cheers

Thank you for the input, but I finally found way using filezilla, it was a very easy process, and works a treat.

I knew immediately that was where I belonged.
