Not an answer Yves... sorry.

I'm trying to solve a similar problem. I'm trying to setup a Huanyang VFD and (I believe) I need to change the config.h USE_SPINDLE_DIR_AS_ENABLE_PIN setting (I don't need M4 - only forward direction). I believe I need the Enable pin to drive a relay to connect/disconnect the VFD control pins.

I have been unable to find the source files for the Pi-CNC that I can open with the Arduino IDE, modify and upload - ideally from the RPi.

Question 1: Is downloading a fresh version of GRBL1.1f and using that the only option?

Question 2: I was thinking that the Protoneer version of config.h may have been modified from the standard GRBL 1.1 version - is that the case?

No. Arduino is also installed on the SD card image and with that you can upload custom GRBL versions as done per the GRBL documentation.

Thank you @Bertus. I have downloaded the latest Arduino IDE and GRBL library. I'll make the changes to config.h and report back on progress.
