Axis Issues & Spindle (Relay) Control

Post by PCPayn3 » Sat Jun 11, 2016 3:42 pm

Hi Guys,
Ive received my board today and been trying to get it up and running.
Im having some issues with the axis jog controls and spindle control.

Axis Issue:
When using the jog controls y+ y- & x+ x- the motors both turn the same direction whichever is pressed. BUT if i use the corner arrow buttons they move in the correct direction.

Spindle / Relay Control Issue:
I dont have a spindle but im trying to get a relay to turn on which powers a fan (will be a laser in future) i have tried both the spindle enable & spindle direction pin and still no luck.

Im pretty new to all this so please bare with me. Many thanks to anybody who can help!!

Hi...

Firstly what software are you using?

What kind of relay are you using.... ?

Once you provide more details we will sort this problem for you. ;)

Hi,
Im using the software that came pre loaded on the board v2.51, i believe its the old version.
Im using a raspberry pi 3 with TB6560 drivers x3 for X,Y,Z axis. And a standard 5v relay.
I am also using the online CNC interface v1.0 using Chrome

Thank you for your help
Callum

Hi
I'm using the GRBL that came pre loaded on the item, its the 2.51v
I'm using a raspberry pi 3 with 3 off TB6560 stepper drivers.

My stepper motors are: 17HS4401-S for my X,Y axis and 17HS13-0404S for my z axis.
On my stepper drivers i have Dip Switch's 1 & 2 On and the Switch no 3 On. (Not sure if this is correct.

Im running CNC v1.0 via Chrome.

Hope that helps.
Thanks Callum

Have you tried bCNC that is located on the desktop of the RPI image.

I am just trying to find out if its the G-code sender software or the actual board.

The GRBL firmware might be one minor version behind but should be usable.

Hi i have now tried it on the bcnc via the raspberry pi, all 3 axis are moving. Z axis goes up and down via the arrows but need swapping in direction (if up clicked it goes down & down goes up). But X & Y are still going to the left whichever arrow is clicked. But is the diagonal buttons are clicked they move in the correct direction but also need swapping as if the top left arrow is clicked it goes to the bottom right corner and if the top right arrow is clicked it goes to the top left of the engraver.

If i go on the web browser now it shows as connected but the axis control is greyed out. I have tried reinstalling your os again to the pi and flashed GRBL v0.9j to the arduino but no luck still.

Hope that is understandable haha, i appreciate your help with this! Ive tried running it from a arduino uno before but had many issues and i prefer raspberry pi and like your hat which is why i want to get it up & running.

That is very unusual.

Do you have a photo of your setup? I am particularly interested in the jumper settings.

bCNC and the Web Software can't run at the same time because the only one app can control the serial port at a time.

I'm using external drivers TB6560 for the axis. So haven't used any jumpers. Is that my problem?

Here are the pictures of the connections, i have figured out the z axis by switching the motor wires round so this now goes up and down by the arrows correctly. I don't mind using bCNC and not the web interface if i can get the other axis issues and spindle control working. Thanks
