Thanks Ernie. So how are you hooking up the 12v for the laser? are you running the wires directly to the laser power supply (mine is a 12v 5a power brick) or are you linking the power brick to the Pi?

adding a laser to my existing PI CNC

I have been running my Protoneer Pi hat for 2 years and so far it has been great! I tend not to mess with what is working, however I did just buy a 3.5W laser to add to my machine. I am running external drivers, and a probe (have not bothered with end stops yet.) The laser came with 2 separate cords...

End stop and probe How-to's?

Are there any good how-to's on hooking up end stops and a probe to our Hat? I have tried to find one but have been unsuccessful so far. I have been using my Raspberry pi controller for almost a year without them but I would like to add them.

Tim,

did you ever get to see if Marlin works on the Pi? I love how well my Pi works as my CNC Controller and would like to do another one if possible.

So I want to add the probe to mine. Just want to make sure I do it correctly. from what I gather I need to add my limit switches first. does everyone put them at the front or back of the machine for y axis? both sides for the x? and on the probe install 2 wires to the board (probe and ground)... on ...

This is the one. People use it on their X-Carves (using the X controller) and that uses GRBL, so I don't see why we couldn't.
