Re: New shield.

I have a large CO2 laser and air assist makes a huge difference for me. Much cleaner cuts and engravings.
Yeah, I've seen a lot of people adding it to thier machines, and seen a few videos of it and it's definately worth using.
I will get mine working when my new laser turns up.

Re: New shield.

Sorry for late reply Bertus. I ordered a 5 watt laser, when it turned up it was a 7 watt. It lasted about 2 weeks so I got a refund. Just waiting for another to be delivered, 6 watt. Using my old 2 watt at the minute. My machine is only a cheap kit from ebay but as long as it's set up properly it's ...

Re: external drivers

What does a 2.58 external driver board look like, what connections does it have?
Do you have a picture of it and the connections?

Re: New shield.

Thanks Bertus. I'm really happy with the new shield, working perfectly, unlike my laser which appears to be losing power. Yesterday I engraved this clock on slate with speed 900 and laser power 90%. Don't look too close or you'll notice the North and South are too far left. It was only a test on a p...

Re: how can I power bigger stepper motors?

I think thats what the pins below the reset button are for, so you can use external stepper drivers and power them seperately from a stronger supply.
Step and direction signal go from the Arduino, through the shield board to them pins and then to the new external drivers.

New shield.

Just got a new 3.51 board from Elecrow. Checked it over and its perfect, really good quality. Been using an old version 3 for ages, time to upgrade. I use Normally Closed limit switches just for homing and just left the High/Low jumper on Low. Set to 16 microstepping. Genuine Arduino UNO with GRBL 1...

Re: Spindle PWM

If someone could clarify this point for me I would appreciate it. Is the implementation of PWM on the v3 shield spindle enable pin basically outputting 0-5 vdc? On the V3 shield you have bought the PWM is not on the SpnEn pin if you want to use GRBL 1.1. The PWM signal that comes from Pin 11 of the...

Re: 10K (R1) resistor

GRBL uses Normally Open (NO) switches by default. Setting $5 to 1 lets you use Normally Closed(NC), which is the CNC industry standard and the safest. When a switch gets triggered the machine stops instantly. I use optocouplers with an old version 3 board without the built in filters and it works gr...

Re: how to regolate vref for clone axis

Hi Andrea. Because it a Laser engraver you dont need to set either of the drivers that high. A CNC machine needs higher current because it has to move a tool against the workpiece. So it needs high torque, the laser engraver only has to move the laser and the Y axis gantry, and because there are 2 m...

What is an EFB-REV1?
One of these maybe.
