Re: Another rebuild

Ok, so I got an old USB port and cut the end off. There were 4 wires (red, black, green, white). Black and Red measured out at 5.14v Which is not surprising. I added a 2 wire lever connector to both and measured the output: 5.14 Added another: 5.14 and Another: 5.14. I then added a 5 wire connectors: 5...

Re: Another rebuild

Just a thought, and quite possibly bullshit, but have you considered slaving by splicing? I used lever splicers (https://cdn.aws.toolstation.com/images/141020-UK/800/45879.jpg) instead of soldering the back of the PI. Seems to work well. Since both motors receive exactly the same pulses, they are go...

trying to set up bCNC

I have successfully wired the motors so that they run ... and run ... and run until I either click on stop or the bCNC just gives up and says the world is coming to an end. One of the things I need (I think) is to set $100,101 and 102. If I'm reading it correctly, this tells GRBL how many steps it t...

wiring weirdness

I have no idea what forum to post this to, but its driving me crazy. I'm using CNC Hat with RaspberryPi3.5. I'm attaching to Cloudray DS542 2-phase external drivers. They require 18-50V input (DC), output 1A-5A on the 4 output lines to the motors, 4 input lines from the computing source (PI) and two...

Re: lever splicers

Excellent.

Using the lever splicers makes running the negative lines from the protoneer to the external drivers much simpler.

It also simplifies the logic pulses to both the Y and A external drivers immensly.

Thank you

wiring the external drivers

The first external drivers I bought (TB6600 of some sort) felt flimsy and had some history of overheating, so I bought different drivers (Cloudray DM542S). They seem heavier and the little screws don't fall out. So far, so good. I've got them wired to the power source (jameco 48v, 12.5A). I've wired...

lever splicers

I tested a lever splicer (https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Ftse3.mm.bing.net%2Fth%3Fid%3DOIP.jApMougSdG9YIva-Aa2TcQAAAA%26pid%3DApi&f=1) with a 12v power source. With one source line and 4 output lines there was no difference between the original signal and any of the outpu...

slaving the A motor

Currently, if you look at the back of the Hat, by soldering X,Y, or Z in two places, you end up with an A slave (the A drive does what the {} drive does). The hat can then be to be connected to external controllers (TB6600) with A and Y getting the same impulses. Then from TB6600 to the motors. I fo...

wire guage

I tried to search for the answer, but got nothing. I'm using 16 gauge wire to connect my power source to the TB6600 external drivers. The same size connects the power source to the wall plug (12A, 48v max). Can I use 20 gauge stranded to connect the CNC Hat to the external drivers? I don't have the ...
