Hi Nick, https://learningdevelopments.co.nz/products/a4988-stepper-motor-driver-carrier?_pos=2&_sid=a13f02ac8&_ss=r It use to be NiceGear.co.nz but they were bought out... Other option is Trademe... Re: Headless bCNC operation
bCNC needs a screen to operate. So it will need to be VNC and it will only be able to run after connecting.

Re: 7 in touchscreen power supply
I have a v. 2.60 with rpi and the 7 in touchscreen. Since the Protoneer hat uses the power GPIO pins, how are others powering their touchscreen? Use one of the USB outputs from the rpi to the micro usb port on the touchscreen control board? With a good USB power supply like the 3A RPi power adapter...

Re: Raspberry Pi 4 Model B - no life sign from the motors
From your email this the unit you are using... TB6560.gif This particular driver looks like the 5V pin is powering an optocopulare of some kind and can be using a bit of current on the 5V pin. (Some of these drivers also don't need the Enable pin connected because they have a pull up resistor. )
