if it also has a SD card reader then you don't even need the RPi to complete a job, this is how I use my 3D printer, I never plug the PC into it anymore just write the Gcode file to the SD card with my PC then plug the SD card into the 3D printer controller and execute the Gocde file from the SD card

That is the plan. I have ordered most of the bits... (Now the hard part waiting for stuff)
